ABOUT OUR GUEST MUSIC DIRECTOR...
Simon Lole, Composer
Formerly Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral, England
will be the Guest Music Director for our 51st season.
Simon has a long history in Cathedral Choral music in the UK, most recently as Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral. In July 2005, Simon left his position in Salisbury to pursue a freelance career in music and the media. He spent the 2005 Michaelmas term as Acting Director of Music and Fellow at Jesus' College, Cambridge, a position he undertook again in the summer of 2009.
Simon now leads a varied freelance career. He is very active as a composer and arranger, having more than 60 published works. Recent commissions include an All Saints anthem for a church in Lubbock, Texas, an anthem for the installation of the Dean of Sacramento Cathedral, California, and an anthem for the choirs of Winchester, Chichester, and Salisbury Cathedrals. He arranges much music for the BBC on both TV and radio, including music for the Festival of Remembrance in the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Simon is in great demand as a choral director. He is once again a regular Musical Director and organist for BBC Radio 4's "Daily Service", "Sunday Morning Worship" and BBC TV's "Songs of Praise". He is also accompanist and vocal coach for the BBC's "Young Chorister of the Year" competition. He has run summer schools in South Africa and across the USA, including many RSCM courses.
This will be Mr. Lole's first time directing the Montreal course.
