THE PRINCIPAL STAFF...

Larry Tremsky is the Executive Director of the Montreal Boys’ Choir Course.

Larry has been a staff member of MBCC since 2001. He has been active in the field of church music for over 30 years. As Organist and Master of the Choirs at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York, he directs a large and active choir program which includes The Cathedral Choir of Men & Boys, a group which has long been part of the course.

As Executive Director, Larry oversees all aspects of the Course, such as registration, financial management, personnel decisions, and liaison with parents and choir directors; along with the Artistic Director and the Programme Director, he is in charge of maintaining continuity and standards. While at the course, Larry also serves as Assistant to the Artistic Director, and helps the proctors and their assistants in keeping the week running smoothly. Additionally, he provides amazing amounts of popcorn each evening.

Patrick Wedd directed his first church choir at the age of 12 and has been active in the world of choral music ever since.

Beginning in 1996, he has been Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral, Montreal. He is also Artistic Director of the Montreal Boys’ Choir Course.

In that position, he is responsible for repertoire selection in conjunction with the Guest Musical Director. His talents as organist and choir director are put on display throughout the week, as it is his responsibility to rehearse the lower voices, to serve as rehearsal accompanist, and to provide organ accompaniment for the closing services.

Andrew Vivian’s first involvement with the MBCC was in the summer of 1973 as a treble. For the past 16 years he has been Programme Director, affording him an early chance at his second childhood. The rest of the year, Andrew is the lead teacher for Grade Eight at Bayview Glen, a prestigious independent school in Toronto.

In his role as Programme Director, he is in charge of planning the course schedule and organising all non-musical activities. He works closely with the Executive Director, the Artistic Director, and the Guest Director throughout the week adjusting the schedule should the need arise.

The Reverend Ed Pickup has been MBCC Chaplain for the last twelve years. Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, in Franklin, Virginia, Father Ed, as he is affectionately known, was ordained to the priesthood in 1989. He has served as chaplain for scores of Royal School of Church Music Training Courses in the U.S. and Canada over the past 21 years, and since 2004, has served on the Board of Directors of the RSCM in America.

As Chaplain of the course, Father Ed is in charge of the pastoral care of the participants, leading the daily Eucharist and Evensong, and preaching on the theme of the week. In consultation with the Guest Director and the Artistic Director, he helps in the repertoire selection of anthems, psalms, and hymns that will be sung during the course.
